<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slim joint device having two degrees of freedom in one joint to achieve reliable operation. <P>SOLUTION: In the joint device 10, an end of an arm 1 is jointed with an end of an arm 2 so as to freely move to each other. Besides, a second crossing gear 4, fifth and sixth gears 43, 44 are provided. The second crossing gear 4 is disposed at a joint portion 1j. Also, in the second crossing gear 4, a first noncircular gear 41 and a second noncircular gear 42 share a contour center. The first and second noncircular gears 41 and 42 are noncircular spur gears. The first noncircular gear 41 and the second noncircular gear 42 cross in a cross shape. The fifth gear 43 engaged with the first noncircular gear 41 is disposed in the arm 1. The sixth gear 44 engaged with the second noncircular gear 42 is disposed in the arm 2. The arm 1 is movable to the arm 2 when the fifth gear 43 is rotated.
