The engine (10) has an exhaust gas recirculation unit (58) comprising an exhaust gas recirculation line (60) by which exhaust gas from exhaust gas duct (20) is recirculated to an inlet (36) of engine. A branching point (ZN) fluidically connected to exhaust gas duct, is provided downstream of a turbine (18). An actuating device (64) is provided at downstream of turbine and is provided with a control element (66) by which pressure (p4) in the exhaust gas duct is adjustable at branching point. A turbine (70) provided downstream of branching point is driven by actuating device.
