The insulation unit (1) has a plate-like, multilayer insulation element (2) including a heat insulation layer (4) made of compacted polymeric foam (5). The layer includes a vapor barrier side surface (13), which is arranged parallel to a surface (12) to be subsequently processed after attaching the unit. An adhesive layer (6) is completely applied on the insulation layer. A vapor barrier layer (7) is permanently glued on the insulation layer by the adhesive layer. An airtight attaching device (3) airtightly attaches the element at a functional component e.g. window frame, of a building. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an airtight attaching device.
