<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a technique capable of generating image data with a set size without requiring setting by a user. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner 10 comprises: a reading device 13 that reads an image of a manuscript M; a change detection unit that, for each of at least a pair of opposite sides of the read image read by the reading device 13, detects a degree of change in image density on the side of the opposite side; and an image processing unit that adds an image to the side of a side with a smaller degree of change in image density among the pair of opposite sides to generate image data with a predetermined set size. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
