The engine has a housing portion i.e. pressure casting component, comprising a receptacle in which a balancer shaft device (10) is partly received and fluidically connected through two return channels that are connected with one another through a back flowing lubricant in a lubricant reservoir of the engine. The lubricant is conductible by a receptacle housing (16) made of steel material, to one of the return channels leading from the retainer to the lubricant reservoir. The balancer shaft device comprises a gear wheel (24) torque-proof connected with a balancer shaft (18).
