<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power loss of a converter and suppress the ripple of a current inputted to and outputted from a power-storage device, in a power-supply system having the converter and an inverter. <P>SOLUTION: A bypass circuit 40 forms a current path bypassing a converter 12 between a power-storage device B and a power line 7 by turning on a bypass relay BRL. In an operating state that does not require a step-up operation by the converter 12, a first mode, which operates the bypass circuit 40 and stops the converter 12, and a second mode, which stops the bypass circuit 40 and operates the converter 12, are selected according to the amplitude of a DC current IH at the power line 7.
