<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial marble maintaining a texture and weatherability peculiar to acrylic resin, having quasi-noncombustible performance, and generating no toxic gas when burnt. <P>SOLUTION: This resin composition for artificial marble includes 70-90 mass% inorganic filler (I) and 10-30 mass% resin component (II). The inorganic filler (I) contains a hydroxy group or crystal water and comprises particles of which the volume-basis median diameter is 0.2-500 μm, and the ratio between 10% diameter (Dv<SB POS="POST">10</SB>) and 90% diameter (Dv<SB POS="POST">90</SB>) in volume-cumulative distribution satisfies the condition: Dv<SB POS="POST">90</SB>/Dv<SB POS="POST">10</SB>>10. The resin component (II) contains: (a) a methacrylic ester or a mixture of a methacrylic ester and a polymer thereof; (b) acrylic ester; and (c) a crosslinkable monomer having two or more polymerizable unsaturated bonds in the molecule. The resin composition contains, with respect to 100 pts.mass (a) component, 0.5-20 pts.mass (b) component and 1-20 pts.mass (c) component. The artificial marble is formed by curing the resin composition.
