METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS ROLL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence of winding misalignment and lift of a glass film in a glass roll as much as possible, when the glass film continuously formed by down-draw method is accommodated as a glass roll.

SOLUTION: This method includes: a forming process S1 in which a glass film is continuously formed by the down-draw method and conveyed; an interim winding process S3 in which a base glass roll is manufactured by winding up the glass film in a roll while laying a protective film onto the glass film at the downstream end of the conveying route of the forming process S1; and a main winding process S4 in which, while unwinding a glass film from the base glass roll and conveying it to the downstream side, a final glass roll is manufactured by winding again the glass film while laying a protective film onto the glass film at the downstream end of the conveying route. In this method, tension in the winding direction applied on the glass film is made greater in the main winding process S4 than in the interim winding process S3.
