This high-power pulsed light generator is provided with: a master clock generator for generating a master clock signal; an optical oscillator for generating pulsed light that is synchronized with the master clock signal; an optical amplifier for amplifying the pulsed light emitted from the optical oscillator in order to output high-power pulsed light; a pumped semiconductor laser for generating a pumping pulsed light for pumping the optical amplifier; a drive unit for driving the pumped semiconductor laser using a pulsed drive current that is synchronized with the master clock signal; and a control unit for controlling the drive unit by regulating the gain of the optical amplifier for each pulse by changing the pulse width of the pulsed drive current so as to change the pulse width of the pumping pulsed light. |
