The head coil (1) has a lower part (U) and an upper part (O) that is positioned over the lower part, where the lower part has a lower part-base (4) and a lower part-head-bearing-part (3) that is movable relative to the lower part-base. The lower part-base is fitted on a patient bed for a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus. The lower part-base is pivotally movable relative to the lower part-head-bearing-part by axes (7) which are rotatably arranged in a rotary joint (6).
