SUTURE SYSTEM WITH CAPSULE EYELET PROVIDING MULTIPLE SUTURE TISSUE FIXATION

A suturing system (30) includes a tool (50) employed to pull at least two sutures through tissue. The tool includes a head (56) having a proximal portion housing a needle (62) movable through a needle exit port (123) of the head and a distal end (64) spaced apart from the proximal portion by a throat. The distal end of the head defines a cavity. A first suture (42) is durably connected to a capsule (40) that is sized for placement in the cavity. The capsule defines a through-hole sized for engagement with the needle and a second suture (44) is removably insertable into the through-hole. The needle is movable from the proximal portion of the head across the throat to form a channel in tissue and to frictionally engage with the second suture and is retractable into the needle exit port to draw the capsule and the first and second sutures through the channel formed in the tissue.
