Production of polyurethane molded articles having a dense periphery and a cellular core, comprises use of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and/or 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane. A process for the production of polyurethane molded articles having a dense periphery and a cellular core comprises reaction of (A) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates and/or polyisocyanate prepolymers, (B) a high mol. wt. compound having at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms and (C) optionally low mol. wt. chain extenders and/or cross-linking agents and (D) optionally other known additives, activators and/or stabilizers in the presence of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and/or 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethane.
