<p>The invention provides a method and a system for processing a liquid cell sample into at least two subsamples, comprising the steps of:
a) providing a liquid cell sample in a first sample vial;
b) transferring a first volume of said liquid cell sample into an intermediate sample vessel;
c) determining the density of said liquid cell sample in said intermediate sample vessel;
d) calculating a first subvolume of said liquid cell sample in the intermediate sample vessel for a first analysis technique;
e) determining whether said liquid cell sample is adequate for a second analysis technique, preferably suitable for DNA or RNA based detection of for example HPV, based on said density determination;
f) transferring from the said intermediate sample vessel said first subvolume to a second vial mounted on a microscope slide; and
g) preserving a second subvolume of said liquid cell sample for said second analysis technique.</p> |
