A metal sheet handling installation, comprising a sheet contour data processing processor (31) for supplying adjustment values to a sheet positioning stop adjustment processor (32), is new. A metal sheet handling installation comprises a separation station for separating individual sheets from a stack for passage to one or more transport, treatment and/or processing stations, at least one station being equipped with individual elements, e.g. positioning abutments, which match the sheet contour. The installation includes a data acquisition processor (31), which is connected to a sheet contour detection system (22) for processing the detected contour data to form adjustment values, and an adjustment processor (32) which converts the adjustment values into control signals for a motorized adjustment system associated with the individual elements (6, 7, 10, 18, 21).
