PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a person from being burnt when comes in accidental contact with the door of a grill by providing engaging portion at both of the left and right ends, respectively, of a protection device and engaging the engaging portions with left and right control panels, respectively, at the front of the gas range. SOLUTION: A protection device 8 is formed by combining two guard pieces 14, 15 consisting of wire so as to be slidable in a lateral direction. The protection device 8 is adjusted in its width to match the width of a grill door and fixed by a fixture 16 for stopping the sliding movement. An engaging portion 10 is bonded to the wire at the left end of the guard piece 15, and an engaging portion 11 is bonded to the wire at the right end of the guard piece 14, respectively, by welding or the like. The engaging portion 10 is provided on its reverse with a plate magnet 19 whose magnetic power permits the engaging portion 10 to be engaged with a control panel 12. Likewise, the engaging portion 11 is provided on its reverse with a magnetic shell whose magnetic power permits the engaging portion 11 to be engaged with a control panel 13. Thus, a person is prevented from being burnt even when in contact with the grill door.
