PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling contents monitoring in a broadcast multicast service system are provided to determine whether an area to which a terminal belongs is within a broadcast multicast service coverage, thereby reducing unnecessary broadcast monitoring. CONSTITUTION: Broadcast scheduling information including broadcast area information about broadcast contents is received(S610). Location information to which a terminal belongs is periodically received through an overhead message(S620). It is determined whether the broadcast contents are monitored according to whether the broadcast area information is the same as the location information(S640). |
