PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium in which cupping can be improved by heat treatment using a hot roll without damage of appearance and a shape and to provide a manufacturing device used for it. SOLUTION: When heat treatment using the hot roll 12 is performed by transporting the magnetic recording medium 14 between the hot roll 12 and two or more nip rolls 13, the heat treatment is performed in such a state that the second or more nip rolls 13 are disposed in a position before the position at which the magnetic recording medium 14 transported on the hot roll 12 begins to separate itself from the surface of the hot roll.
