PURPOSE: A method for controlling key input of a mobile communication terminal is provided to minimize a number of keys constituting the mobile communication terminal, and to extend the size of a display unit and keys. CONSTITUTION: When an optional numerical key is inputted in a standby state, a controller displays corresponding numbers. If the input of the optional numerical key is maintained over predetermined time, the controller performs origination to numbers corresponding to the inputted numbers. When an incoming signal is received in a standby state, the controller generates an incoming sound. And the controller connects calls during the optional key input in the incoming sound generation state.
