The method involves representing stitches (10) by a surface, which consists of a number of two-dimensional (2D) geometric basic forms e.g. triangles (11) or squares and/or lines. The number of basic forms is selected depending on desired representation size of the stitches in a display device of a design device and/or curvatures (12-15) of individual stitch portions. A surface is formed from different basic forms. A spatial structure of threads forming the stitches is represented by shading and texture mapping. The spatial structure is produced by a texture vector representation. An independent claim is also included for a device for designing stitch products manufactured in a knitting machine. |
