PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the impossibility of efficiently disposing the coil layer of a helical pattern in a narrow coil forming area when the magnetic path of a recording magnetic field is set short in a conventional thin-film magnetic head. SOLUTION: A magnetic pole part 24 for regulating a track width is formed between lower and upper core layers 20 and 26. Two coil layers 29 and 37 are laminated through a coil insulating layer 31 between a reference surface B and the lower core layer 20. Accordingly, a magnetic path is shortened and, thus, narrowing of a track and reducing of inductance are both achieved, and high-density recording is carried out by the narrow track and a high data transfer rate.
