The method involves trimming a metallic plate (5) circumferentially. A tube body (9) is shaped with opposite edge-sided contact areas. The tube body is molded-in to a structural component (1) by internal high pressure in closely lying contact areas. The structural component is partially heated and is quenched in a holding tool (14) loaded with coolant. The peripherally trimmed plate is pre-formed in U-shape and then transformed to the tube body. The plate is pre-formed to U-shape by isothermal heating. The tube body is finally shaped to the structural component by internal high pressure. An independent claim is included for a structural component with an end section having a curvature radius between 200 millimeter to 400 millimeter.
