PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable only an owner to switch the mode of a mobile telephone set to a calling mode. SOLUTION: In a step 3, when determining that the user has depressed an automatic answering telephone function utilization key, a main control section proceeds to a step S4 to record a password preset by the user in a semiconductor memory. In a step S5, when determining that the user has depressed an automatic answering message service key, the main control section proceeds to a step S6 to record the condition preset by the user in the semiconductor memory. Thus, when the preset password is received or the preset condition is satisfied, the mode of the mobile telephone set is switched to the calling mode.
