A computer-implemented method for customizing a hearing aid, the hearing aid having one or more adjustable parameters, the method comprising: receiving trial period information comprising one or more of a performance parameter indicative of a performance of the hearing aid during a trial period, a usage parameter indicative of a usage pattern of the hearing aid during a trial period, user profile information indicative of one or more user characteristics, hearing aid information indicative of one or more hearing aid characteristics, and a user feedback parameter indicative of user information about a performance of the hearing aid during the trial period; determining one or more parameter settings of the one or more adjustable parameters based on the received trial period information; wherein determining comprises determining the one or more parameter settings based on the received trial period information, on previous trial period information from a plurality of previous trial periods performed for a corresponding plurality of other hearing aids and users, and on corresponding resulting parameter settings of respective adjustable parameters previously selected for said plurality of other hearing aids.
