PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save labor and time for software management in the case of production by preventing mismatching of the class of a cover to be attached and operating software. SOLUTION: Electronic equipment such as portable telephone set is provided with a standard cover 19 and an option cover 20 to be distinguished by specifications, and for each of both the covers a projecting part 21 is formed at a position, which faces a switch part 16 in the case of mounting on a control panel 1. In such projecting parts, a conductive rubber 22 is attached to the projecting part 21 of the option cover 20 so that the switch part 16 can be turned on by allowing the conductive rubber 22 to be in contact with the switch part 16 when the option cover 20 is mounted on the control panel 1. Besides, when the standard cover 19 is mounted, the switch part 16 is kept off. Basic software including software for providing operation for each of specifications is packaged in the control panel 1, and software corresponding to each of specifications is functioned according to the state of the switch part 16.
