The length measuring device has a hollow structure (4) in which a scale (3) is arranged. A fastening element (10) includes fastening portion for fixing the scale on target object (1) in measuring direction. The fastening element includes fastening section which is fastened with hollow structure. The length compensating elements (131,132) are provided between the fastening portion and fastening section of fastening element to prevent movement of the fastening portion relative to the fastening section in measuring direction.
