PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission type electron source element which can effectively converge electron beams emitted from each emitter with a structure of a low manufacturing cost.

SOLUTION: The field emission type electron source element comprises a plurality of emitters 2 formed in the drive region of one or more of field emission type electron sources (FEA) arranged on a substrate 6, insulating layers 4 formed on the substrate so as to surround each emitter 2, drawing electrodes 5 which are formed on the insulating layers 4 so as to surround each emitter 2 in order to impress voltage on each emitter 2 for emitting electron beams from each emitter 2, and electron beam focusing layers 1 which are formed so as to surround the FEA drive region in order to converge the electron beams emitted from each emitter 2.
