摘要 A method for determining the optimal settings of a camera whereby initially at least one starting setting which includes a value for at least one controllable parameter of a digital image is maintained in a repository (such as the cameraâ s memory.) When a digital image is taken image metrics are calculated according to the controllable parameter 209. The value of each of the controllable parameters is compared with a predetermined threshold range and is recursively adjusted until each value is within the predetermined threshold range 211. The starting setting is then modified according to the adjusted value and saved for future use 217. The step of recursively adjusting may include the use of an Image Quality algorithm such as a Hill Climb Search algorithm. The method allows the implementation of a digital machine vision system with a faster convergence of an Image Quality algorithm, which results in a shorter delay for the user.
