PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To distinguish between a primary battery and a secondary battery by using charging terminals for charging the secondary battery. SOLUTION: A current value is nearly constant even when starting charging to a secondary battery, but a current value decreases when starting charging to a primary battery gradually. The charging apparatus detects the charging current flowing in the battery on a socket part after a definite time interval from starting discharging, by using the difference in the current characteristics. An object is distinguished as the second battery to continue discharging when the current value is a specified value or larger.
