PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner for accurately obtaining the focal position, even when a color component in which sharpness is small is included in a plurality of the color components, and to provide a focal position adjustment method and a program for finding the focal position. SOLUTION: Automatic focal adjustment finds the focal position from the signals of the plurality of the color components; more specifically, adjusts the focal position on the basis of the sharpness value of a brightness signal, found by mixing each of the color components R, G, and B at prescribed ratio.
