It is intended to provide an organ function maintaining and ameliorating solution effective in suppressing hypofunction of an organ for transplantation and a method for storing an organ using the organ function maintaining and ameliorating solution. The invention relates to the organ function maintaining and ameliorating solution for maintaining or ameliorating the function of the organ to be provided for organ transplantation comprising a pharmacological active substance including glycyrrhitinic acid, glycyrrhetinic acid or a pharmacologically acceptable salt or derivative thereof in an organ storage solution. The invention also relates to a method for storing an organ for transplantation comprising perfusing the organ function maintaining and ameliorating solution to the organ isolated from a donor to cause ischemia and immersing the organ in the organ function maintaining and ameliorating solution during the time until the organ is transplanted to a recipient.
