RECTAL EXPANSION APPARATUS FOR IMMOBILIZATION OF PROSTATE INTERNAL MOTION

PURPOSE: A rectal expansion device is provided to fix the movement of the prostate in the radiation therapy of the prostate cancer, to minimize the radiation exposure of the surrounding normal tissues such as the rectum which is very close to the prostate and positioned in the radiation exposure domain. CONSTITUTION: A rectal expansion device for fixing the movement of the prostate comprises a hollow tube(20) in which one end is connected to an air injection unit(10) and the periphery of the other end is formed with a scale(22); a balloon(30) which is equipped on the other end of the hollow tube and is expanded by the operation of the air injection unit; and a support catheter(40) which is a rod shape in order to overcome the resistance due to insertion while maintaining the form of the hollow tube when inserting the balloon connected to the hollow tube into the rectum, and is installed within the hollow tube so that one end is positioned within the balloon.
