A process for the vapor-phase production of an oxide composite containing titanium oxide, characterized by preheating a feed gas comprising titanium tetrachloride and an oxidizing gas to 700 DEG C or higher and reacting them with a solution or slurry of a salt containing a metal element to produce a finely particulate oxide composite having a BET specific surface area of 5 to 200 m<2>/g; a titanium oxide-containing oxide composite obtained by the process; and a composition containing the composite. Thus, a finely particulate oxide composite which contains titanium oxide and has a practical value can be produced by the industrially advantageous and simple process. <IMAGE> |
