PURPOSE: An encryption and decryption apparatus and method are provided to control encryption intensity using a plurality of encryption modules which is connected in serial. CONSTITUTION: A module control part receives a module selection signal from a user. An algorithm execution control part receives a count signal from the user(S100). The algorithm execution control unit transmits the count signal to each encryption/decryption module of an encryption and decryption part(S110). The encryption and decryption part classifies a selected encryption/decryption module into an operation on group and an operation off group(S120). The encryption and decryption part determines the number of operating times of the selected encryption/decryption module based on the count signal(S130). The encryption and decryption part generates a final encryption result value(S140).
