PURPOSE: A method for amplifying a target nucleic acid and a method for determining relative amount of the target nucleic acid in a sample are provided to accurately estimate profile of the target nucleic acid. CONSTITUTION: A method for amplifying a target nucleic acid comprises: a step of providing a sample containing a plurality of kinds of target nucleic acids; a step of linking two or more kinds of target nucleic acids under the presence of RAN ligase or DNA ligase; and a step of amplifying the linked product. The sample is RNA or DNA. The linkage is performed by an adapter sequence between the target nucleic acids. The amplification is performed by linking a primer sequence or a primer binding sequence at one or more ends of 3' end and 5' end. A method for amplifying the linked product comprises a step of reverse-transcribing the target nucleic acid when the target nucleic acid is RNA.
