PURPOSE: A pneumatic active type engine mount system and a controlling method thereof are provided to achieve better fuel efficient, to reduce energy consumption of a vehicle and to implement ride comfort and safety by reducing an engine vibration. CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic active type engine mount system comprises an engine mount, a vacuum tank, a solenoid valve(150), and a controller(100). The engine mount is installed between an engine and a car body. The vacuum tank stores negative pressure which the engine mount needs. A solenoid valve delivers the negative pressure to the engine mount by opening and closing the fluid path of the vacuum tank. A controller comprises a state judgment unit for a gear(110), a state judgment unit for an air conditioner(120), a RPM input unit(130), a scan mode control unit(140), and a RPM extension control unit. The state judgment unit for an air conditioner receives an air conditioner operation voltage of a vehicle and determines whether the air conditioner is on or off. The state judgment unit for a gear determines the N, D, R state of a gear according to the output value of a speed changing shift location sensor. The RPM input unit receives RPM which is the revolutions per minute of an engine. The scan mode control unit receives a CKP signal, a gear state signal, and an air conditioner state signal, applies a power application time and a duty ratio computed according to a scan mode which is fit for a gear and an air conditioner state, and produces a PWM signal. The RPM extension control unit expands an air conditioner off mode with a D gear and an air conditioner off mode with an N gear respectively on the standard of a standard D idle RPM and a standard N idle RPM even though above a standard idle RPM, and performs a scan mode control.
