PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article storing/retrieving method for an automated warehouse, eliminating or reducing the possibility of setting articles aside during the next retrieval after restorage of articles once retrieved for picking work while strictly observing a first-in first-out order for the articles independently of the dates of manufacture of the articles. SOLUTION: When articles to be retrieved exist on a corner shelf and set-aside articles exist on a front shelf corresponding to the corner shelf, the set-aside articles are set aside on the corner shelf of an empty front-rear shelf set and then the articles to be retrieved are retrieved. When the articles to be retrieved is restored, a restorage shelf is determined in accordance with a restorage shelf selecting process and then the articles to be retrieved are restored. The restorage shelf selecting process includes a first step of determining an empty corner shelf except an original storage shelf, as a restorage shelf, a second step of determining a front shelf corresponding to the corner shelf storing articles to be continuously stored, as a restorage shelf, and a third step of determining a front shelf corresponding to a corner shelf storing low-frequency articles, as a restorage shelf.
