<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing benzenedicarboxylic acids, whose purity is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a step (1) of oxidizing p-xylene in a first pressurized oxidation reactor where the temperature is maintained at 150 to 165°C in the presence of an oxidizing catalyst component comprising an oxygen-containing gas, cobalt source, manganese source, and bromine source and an acetic acid solvent, to produce an oxidation composition; a step (2) of removing the oxidation composition from the first pressurized oxidation reactor and feeding the oxidation composition produced in the step (1) to a second oxidation reactor; and a step (3) of further subjecting the oxidation composition to liquid-phase oxidation in the second oxidation reactor while feeding a vapor-phase solvent containing an acetic acid to the second oxidation reactor and maintaining the temperature in the second oxidation reactor at temperature larger than that of the first oxidation reactor but within 185 to 230°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
