<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and control method therefor capable of executing an emergency new job without delay, which is designated during the execution of a job. <P>SOLUTION: An image processor includes: an image processing part 122 for performing image processing of manuscript data by a unit of page and generating transmission data; a communication part 112 for transmitting the transmission data; an operation part 130 for receiving designation of a job including image processing and transmission processing; and a control part 102 for determining the type of a job and determining the execution timing of the job. When a new job is designated during the execution of the image processing in accordance with the job, the control part 102 determines the types of the job being executed and the new job and determines the execution timing of the new job. The image processing part 122 performs the image processing included in the new job according to the determined timing.
