In the upper part of the containment of the furnace shaft (1) there are separate feeds for the feeding in of the particles to be foamed of the bulk material and the flowing of gas into the upper part of the furnace shaft (1), wherein the openings for the feeding in of the particles to be foamed lie further away from the circumferential surface (2) of the furnace shaft (1) than the openings (8) for the feeding in of the gas.
