<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample crushing device capable of simply crushing and recovering a sample that is hard to be crushed. <P>SOLUTION: The sample crushing device comprises a rod-shaped pestle member P, and a mortar member M in which the pestle member P is insertable. The pestle member P is formed with a tapered part 11 whose surface is roughened, at least one end of a pestle member body 10, and the mortar member M whose bottom is formed into an inverse frustum of circular cone, has a cylindrical shape. When the pestle member P is inserted therein, the tapered part 11 of the pestle member P and a contact surface of the inverse frustum of circular cone are roughened, and the tapered angle θa to a longitudinal central line Ca of the pestle member P and an angle θb of the inner wall of the inverse frustum of circular cone to the longitudinal central line Cb of the pestle member M are substantially identical.
