PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image composition device and an image composition method for an in-vehicle camera for obscuring a variation in the brightness and hue of image overlapping areas, in which photograph images inputted from a plurality of cameras overlap with each other, and correcting image data for bringing the brightness and hue of the photograph images inputted from a plurality of cameras close to each other for generating an easily visible composite image. SOLUTION: This image composition device is constituted of an image memory, an image reading control part, an initial gain calculation part, a correction gain calculation part, an image correction part, and an image composition part. The initial gain calculation part calculates a mean value of pixels in the image overlapping areas of the respective cameras to find a gain unifying hues of the adjacent camera images. The correction gain calculation part adjusts a hue to those of surrounding camera images to reduce a difference of correction gain values between the adjacent camera images on both sides. The image correction part gently varies the correction gain values on both the sides in the camera image. The image composition part composes an easily visible composite image with a uniform hue.
