PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of effectively removing a foreign matter adhering to a light receiving face. SOLUTION: A cleaning screen 31 wound on a spool 33 is contained in a case 32 of a cleaning screen cartridge 30. The cleaning screen 31 alternately has a removing section 34 for removing the foreign matter and a passing section 35 for passing the light of an object to be photographed. When the cleaning screen cartridge 30 is inserted to a cleaning screen cartridge storage section 11, the cleaning screen 31 is wound on a winding spool 12a and the cleaning screen 31 comes to a stop at a position where the passing section 35 and an effective transparent region of an optical filter 6 are completely overlapped. The electronic camera can execute imaging in this state. When the foreign matter adheres to the light receiving face of the optical filter 6, the cleaning screen 31 is unidirectionally moved and the removing section 34 wipes out the foreign matter. Thereafter, the cleaning screen 31 comes to a stop at a position where the passing section 35 provided in an immediate left position of the removing section 34 wiping out the foreign matter and the effective transparent region of the optical filter 6 are completely overlapped, and the imaging can be attained again.
