<p>The method involves displacing a longitudinal guide element as a measuring drive in the unknown environment. A measuring sensor is guided along the longitudinal guide element. The measuring sensor detects the position coordinates either continuous or discontinuous at any point and transmits to a measuring system. The ends of the longitudinal guide element are fixed in place.
