<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-human mammal deficient in prothymosin α-gene expression in the striatum, and a method using the mammal to screen preventive/curative drugs for Huntington's disease and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The non-human mammal deficient in prothymosin α-gene expression in the striatum is characterized by, compared with a corresponding wild-type mammal, (1) vulnerability to cerebral ischemia, (2) inferiority in motility, (3) natural development of symptons of (1) and (2) by aging, and (4) improvement of symptons of (1), (2) and (3) by a dopamine D2 receptor agonist, dopamine metabolic inhibitor, NMDA receptor antiagonist, or dopamine D1 receptor antiagonist. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
