<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AOC having an integrally formed plastic optical port. <P>SOLUTION: A plastic optical port 20 is directly attached to an end of an optical fiber cable 21 of an AOC 10 without requiring an optical connector. In the plastic optical port 20, an opening 20a is formed for receiving the end of the optical fiber cable 21. The AOC 10 includes a proximal end 22a fixed to the plastic optical port 20 and a plurality of electric lead lines 22 including a distal end that extends so as to be separated from the port 20. At least one optical electronic device 23 and at least one IC tip 24 are mounted on at least one proximal end 22a of at least one lead line 22. Bond wires 25 electrically interconnect the optical electronic device 23, the IC tip 24, and at least another lead line 22.
