A channel switch valve module including a single position detection sensor according to the present invention includes: a valve drive gear including a barrier having a plurality of position confirmation ports; and a single position detection sensor disposed at one side of the valve drive gear and detecting the position of the valve drive gear. The position detection sensor determines whether the position detection sensor operates normally based on whether light components are transmitted or received through the position confirmation port. The method of the present invention includes first confirming the component reliability of the position detection sensor by recognizing whether the position detection sensor is operating normally through an on/off process of the position detection sensor before a valve drive gear is driven to rotate. When a channel switch valve module operates abnormally through the above process, it is easy to confirm which component from among the valve drive gear and the position detection sensor is operating abnormally. As a result, accurate switching of the valve drive gear becomes possible.
