<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of quickly and reliably performing an operation of automatically setting right and left directional positions of a paper sheet and performing proper paper feeding, and to provide a printer. <P>SOLUTION: In an operation of automatically setting right and left directional positions of a paper sheet P, when a sensor S that moves to the center is in contact with a paper feed table 52, the paper feed table 52 moves to the opposite side of the contacting sensor S.
