<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing method in which heat-resistant bacterium adhering to a laundry can be washed and sterilized with high reliability by using a peracetic acid preparation with easy handleability and high safety, wherein the washing method provides a working environment during washing, is easy to treat a waste liquid, is desirable for an environment, and can provide a high sour effect after drying when the peracetic acid preparation is used in a rinsing step after washing. <P>SOLUTION: The washing method for the laundry, which uses an alkali detergent and the peracetic acid preparation, the peracetic acid preparation is used which comprises 1.0 to 6.0 mass% of peracetic acid, 1.0 to 6.0 mass% of hydrogen peroxide, 20 to 40 mass% of acetic acid, and water, wherein the total mass of the peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid, and water is 100 mass%.
