A detachable rail platform (20) adaptable for selective and secure mounting to a weapon's rear iron sight assembly (2), the rear iron sight assembly (2) having a sight base (4) and a sight guard (12). The detachable rail platform (20) includes a body (22) having forward and rearward portions. The body (22) further includes a rail portion (24) and is positionable to envelop the rear iron sight assembly (2). A first clamp assembly (28, 30) is selectively engageable with the sight base (4) at a predetermined position. A second clamp assembly (80) is selectively engageable with the sight guard (12). Upon engagement of the first (28, 30) and second (80) clamp assemblies to the sight base (4) and the sight guard (12) respectively, the rail platform (20) is selectively and securely mounted to the weapon. |
