<p>A method for treatment of a membrane used in water treatment comprises the steps of contacting the membrane with a solution containing free nitrous acid. The method may be used to remove biofilm from the membrane, or it may be used to inhibit biofilm formation during periods where the membrane is off-line or in a stand-by mode.</p> |
